The condensate drain is at atmospheric pressure (non‐pressurized) and
therefore must be allowed to drain freely with gravity only.Please ensure
thattherearenoblockagesalongthecondensatedraintube.Allportionsof
the condensate drain (neutralizer and drain tube) must be at a lowe r
elevationthanthewater
heatertopreventcondensatewaterfrombuilding
upinsidetheheatexchanger.
Condensate cannot be effectively neutralized if the neutralizer elements
inside the Neutralizer accessory have been completely consumed .If this
happens, Condensate will remain acidic and can possibly cause damage to
itemssuchaspipes,concrete,etc.,ifdrainedimproperly.
TheNeutralizercartridgeisdesignedtolastfor3yearsbeforereplacement.
However,theactuallifeoftheneutralizermayvary,dependingonthe
applicationandusage.Pleaseensurethatthecartridgeisproperlyreplaced
beforetheneutralizerelementshavebeencompletelyconsumed.
Allpreventativemeasuresandsafetypracticesmustbeadheredtowhen
drainingcondensate.Themanufacturerwillnotberesponsibleforany
damagecausedbycondensate.
Adrainpan,orothermeansofprotectionagainstwaterdamage,isrequired
tobeinstalledunderthewaterheaterincaseofleaks.
Followtheelectricalcoderequirementsofthelocalauthorityhaving
jurisdiction.Intheabsenceofsu chrequirements,followthelatesteditionof
theNationalElectricalCodeANSI/NFPA70intheU.S.orthelatesteditionof
CSAC22.1CanadianElectricalCode,Part1,inCanada.
Whenservicingorreplacingpartswithinthewaterheater,labelallwires
priortodisconnectiontofacilitateaneasyanderror‐freereconnection.
Wiringerrorscancauseimproperanddangerousoperation.Verifyproper
operationafterservicing.
ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS
1. Thewaterheatermustbeelectricallygrounded.Donotattachthegroundwire toeitherthegasor
thewaterpiping.
2. Thewaterheaterrequires120VAC/60Hzelectricalpowersupplythatisproperlygrounded.
A proper disconne ct (i.e. on/off switch, power plug, etc.) controlling the main power to the
waterheatermustbeprovidedforservicereasons.(Mustcomplywithlocalcodes).
Connectthepowersupply
tothewaterheaterexactlyasshowninthewiringdiagram;
3. Agreenscrewisprovidedinthejunctionboxtogroundtheconnection.
4. Canbehardwiredorwiredtoaplug‐in.
5. The use of a surge protector is
recommended in order to
protect the unit
from power
surges.
